About Wendy Fedan's "Carrick-A-Tures:"I named my business "Carrick-a-Tures" before I married, making fun use of my maiden name, Carrick.
I have been doing caricatures professionally since summer of 1992. I started working for Kaman's Art Shoppes at Carowinds, in Charlotte, NC. Every summer during my college years, this was my job. It was wonderful. When I finally graduated in 1996, I started working at Geauga Lake for the first summer, and then worked at a mall kiosk for about four months. That was the last time I worked for someone else doing caricatures. Ever since I've done various caricature work on my own. At first it was nothing solid to live on, just a speckling of extra income. But after 25+ years, it has grown to become a third of my annual income (I also do freelance design and illustration work). The face has always been my favorite subject matter. Every person is a new story, and the face is where I look to find their soul -- their inner beauty and character. Every person is a masterpiece, crafted by life experience. I have quite a client list, including The Cleveland Cavaliers (I drew for their Christmas party one year), Westfield Shopping Center (Southpark Mall's annual Breakfasts w/ Santa and Easter Bunny), and Cleveland State University. Other events include after-proms, and private parties for companies, kids and adults. |
